Kazaa File Mislabling
This is very very very common these days.
I've downloaded files that are 500 megs or so and it turns out to be something else. when this happens, i rename the file to what it really is, and keep is shared for about a month, and warn everyone that downloads the file off of me. sometimes, i search for that file, and message everyone that shares it. why do people do this?? why are people jackasses?

well to stop it from happening to you or anyone else, i suggest you scroll all the way over to the right and check the file name before downloading. Most of the time people only change the label and not the name of the actual file. But yeah, people who do it should be shot, preferably in the gut with a huge spud cannon. ;p

For the past month or so, I have tried downloading Matrix: Reloaded. I would estimate that I've downloaded at least 60 different files adding up to about 40 or 50 gigs of video. Not a single one of them was the actual movie. All of this was on Kazaa. A few days ago, a friend gave me a heads-up and suggested I use e-donkey/e-mule. It is a little slow, but you get what you're looking for at amazing quality.

i use kazaa lite and got one of thier extensions.
it's a neat cool program that let you preview avi's (which is impossible using the kazaa interface, which will only let u preview mpeg's) when you are downloading them. i was dling matrix reloaded, and i previewed it and it turned out to be matrix 1, but i'm still getting it.

As far as getting Matrix Reloaded goes, I suggest you save yourself the wasted time and effort of downloading and just go to your local $4 matinee showing.
As far everything else, don't kick a gifthorse in the mouth. If you really don't like it, get a new gifthorse. And if none of them suit you, buy your gifts yourself.

It makes no sense to me. These people go out of their way to mislabel/relabel files with popular names just so others will eagerly suck away at their bandwidth only to realize that after hundreds of megs of uploads, the joke is on the downloader.

Someone else mentioned bittorrent - if you find a decent site with bittorrent links on it, they will be correct most of the time. If they aren't correct, they will be removed pretty quickly.
As far as kazaa goes, if you have kazaa lite or k++ (maybe even regular kazaa, not sure) you can goto fasttrackmovies.com and look through the verified links. You can click on links there and it will auto start the download in kazaa. As The_Dude said, the avi previewer is a very handy tool as well. |

back in my 56k days, i downloaded a movie after 5 or 6 nights, and it turned out to be a preview for another movie, playing over and over and over again, for 600 megs or so. yup, that sounds like the work of a movie company.

You know it's not a movie company because it IS some other movie. If it's the movie company it will be a loop of maybe a scene or something like that, but not a good copy of some movie other than what it says.

People will do whatever they can to get one upon you.
They rename files to a movie or program most people are trying to get OR rename the to the most demanded files nowadays, then throttle your download while they also scan your libraries to get what you are offering. All just to get your attention. Ditch Kazza....
