Router Problems..
Well after using the apartement internet for a while we've gone back to cable. However the old router saved the login/password to make the settings, and my room mate didnt bother to write that stuff down.
So now we have a perfectly working wireless router but no way to make adjustments to it. Is there anyway to reset the settings without having to remember the login/pass? Or am I basically screwed? |
I think you'd best look that up in the manual or on the support site of the manufacturer.
What's the make/model of the router? There's got to be some way to reset it.... |
obviously you have some net access, I would check online with the router maker and see if they have a way of resetting the router to factory defaults. Most do.
|
Usually holding the reset button down for some time will reset everything to factory defaults. How long? Maybe try 10-30 seconds.
|
Yep, hold in the reset button 10+ seconds. When the reset happens the lights usually flash differently.
|
Yeah the 15sec hold on reset worked. Thanks yall.
As I said it was my roommates router and he didnt save the manual. |
A google search on make and model will sometimes turn up a manual in .pdf format, but so long as you got it working it doesn't matter. That's great for any half decent routers, although a company I once worked for sold cheap ones that you could easily fry by improperly resetting them. And it's a major Canadian telecommunications firm, not naming any names. In fact, you might say it's the mother of all Canadian telecommunications firms.
*cough* |
