***REMOVAL FOR WINDIR32 / POKAPOKA65 / IMG05058.com TROJAN ***
***REMOVAL FOR WINDIR32 / POKAPOKA65 / IMG05058.com TROJAN ******
This is an important security measure all Windows / AOL Instant Messanger users MUST take. You are putting your computer, as well as the computers of many other AIM users (your buddies) at risk. After thorough examination of this code I have determined it to be exceptionally malicious in nature and needs to be dealt with accordingly. The code appears to go as far as making note of the IP address your computer and even harvests CD keys for popular programs and games. Unfortunately, I have no idea what it did with them, if anything. Symptoms include: -AIM buddies complaining about you sending them trojans -Bunch of nerds wanting to burn you at the stake -Message windows popping up consisting of AIM buddy away messages Do not ever open IMG05058.com. Ever. These trojans are spreading like a nasty disease and need to be stopped. Only with everyone's cooperation can we fight back. The folliwng are the removal instructions for this malicious trojan: 1. Hit CTRL+ALT+DEL to get to the Task Manager. Once in the Task Manager, hit the Processes tab and look for "WinDir32.exe" and end that process. 2. Go to Start > Run > type MSCONFIG, go to startup tab and uncheck both entries for "WinDir32.exe" 3. Hit APPLY, OK, Restart Now. Reboot your computer. 4. Once the computer has loaded windows, proceed to the next step. Please note this carefully and do not skip this second reboot. 5. As it is rebooting, press F8 every half second until you get the prompt 6. Select "Safe Mode" - This starts you in "safe mode", meaning that all of the stuff normally loaded on start up will not be loaded, drivers and all 7. Allow windows to boot into safe mode. THIS WILL TAKE QUITE A LONG TIME!!! Your screen will probably look really messed up, and for sure your desktop background will be missing. Please do not freak out because all of these things are safe and sound. 8. Go to Start > Run > type MSCONFIG, go to startup tab and uncheck PokaPoka65.exe 9. Go to Start > Run > type CMD, type "del C:\windows\etb" without the quotes. Hit enter. 10. Start > Turn off computer ... > Restart Let your computer load up like normal and the trojan should be gone with the wind. After doing these steps I triple checked and i can't get the trojan again. 11. Delete that IMG05058.com file and/or lolk.exe which will be found wherever you downloaded it to. If you can't find it, search for them under Start > Search... If you have any problems contact me at MIKESTY@GMAIL.COM or catch me in the halls or something. These instructions probably won't work for Windows 95, 98, or ME, and if you're running those you may not be at the same risk that you are with Windows 2000 and windows XP. ~M$ )mike stylianos( *END TRANSMISSION 12:30 AM* |
