Screen Flickering!! GeForce FX5200 Problems

Alright, I have been at this for hours now, and for the life of me I cannot find a solution.

GeForce FX5200 Video Card, been working just great for almost a year and a half. Recently, the screen flickers on and off randomly, and usually whenever you move the mouse, click on something, do anything pretty much. I'm typing in between flickers right now and at least got them to flicker a little less.

I have tried downloading the latest drivers...>nVidia ForceWare 78.01 build. Stopped the problem just overnight, but problem started again the next morning. Unistalled the drivers, tried installing the original driver from the CD that came with the video card, and even that made it worse.

Re-installed the latest drivers again, but setting are set at 16 bit, 800 x 600. Screen flickers still, and when I change the screen resolution settings to anything higher, flickering gets worse and tends to completely freeze up the computer.

I have also ran Housecall antivirus, Norton Antivirus/One Button Checkup, Registry Mechanic. Nothing solves the problem.

There is only one thing that I have found that doesn't cause the screen to flicker at all. Completely uninstalling NVidia's drivers and rebooting and using the default WindowsXP VGA drivers. Not one problem when using WindowsXP drivers...it makes the computer at least useable for now (internet and such), but forget playing any video/games etc.

Does anyone have any idea what I should do? Is it the hardware? Is it the software? (Drivers worked fine up until now, and newest drivers make it worse )

Thanx in advance.

Check the refresh rate of the screen. If that's not it, I'd have to say it's a monitor issue.

Refresh rate of the screen was 60 hz.

Today is a new day, I have uninstalled the nVidia drivers and I am only using the default WindowsXP VGA drivers now.

With the default drivers, I have no problems. Screen doesn't flicker, I don't get a bunch of pixelated lines when moving the mouse. If I install any nVidia GeForce drivers, (Original, or newest) it starts all over again.

Different video card has just arrived, so I am going to try it to be sure that it isn't a monitor problem.

60hz is waaaaay too low. Turn it up to as high as it can go.

60 Hz is not "waaay" too low. Monitors made in the past 2 years are just starting to have refresh rates above 60 Hz without paying a premium. 60 Hz is normal, but I have heard that if you go from 80 Hz down to 60 Hz then you can really notice it.

It's not the refresh rate because the default Windows driver is set at 60Hz. I think it's a driver issue.

Yes, the default is 60 but if you're used to a higher refresh rate you will see flickers JUST as he described. The monitor I am using is four years old and it tops out at 80-85 hz
