Any Macromedia Flashers out there?
So .. i need some pointers on how to work with Dnamic Flash content... and it ain't gonna be pretty.
I am making a wesite for a gaming clan .. so the pages should be dynamic. They didnt want the typical phpBB2 board.. or another hybrid.. so a friend talked me into doing it in flash . I am now trying to get flash to work with databases (which i actually have figured out already), but now i need to use the data from the database to populate the flash pages dynaically. any ideas on where to start? i'm not an actionscript guru .. but i'd like to be. btw.. this is the "beginnings" of the site.. http://www.silentops.com/test.html the buttons on bottom clear the data and reload it from the database back end .. all i have to do now is customize the queries and display it nicely. |

Don't do it, use a flash/html hybrid - especially if your not an actionscript guru, the screen shot shown could be recreated just as easily in html with dynamic flash content added.
You say that you know how to get flash to work with databases, and then go on to say how that you need help getting flash to work wit the database. What methods are you using? php, xml, both? |

I haven't played with it yet, but Laszlo is on my 'to figger out' list. It is a program that converts XML into Flash. I played with some of the demos and am very impressed.
http://www.openlaszlo.org/ http://www.laszlosystems.com/ It is very sweet, if it weren't flash it would be at the top of my list for sure.
