Linux Question - 64 Bit distro
Does anyone know of a free 64 bit linux distro that's feasible to use by a Linux newb?
|
SUSE 9.3 has a 64bit version that is available for free.
FreeBSD has a 64bit version. I believe that Red Hat has a version. check out linuxiso.org for more info |
I believe Mandrake or Mandrivia, whichever you perfer, is available in 64 bit I believe. I may be wrong. While we are on this topic I have a question, does an OS designed for 32 bit get any signifigant performance gains when released in 64 bit mode?
P.S. Oiekeooiyw mentioned Free BSD. Just to let you know that FreeBSD is not Linux, but very similar BSD, and it is not very beginner friendly IMO. |
