Windows Booting Issues
Alright, I've had some booting issues before involving my hard drives not wanting to boot, but now I'm pretty sure it's a Windows issue and I'm not quite sure where to start to try to fix it.
Basically it boots up, Windows' booting screen comes up (the Windows screen with the moving green line on the bottom) then it takes me to scanning a hard drive for issues then after that it takes me to a blank screen. My monitor's still on, the screen's just black. And it stays black. Has anyone had this problem? I've tried unplugging my HD's, going through the HD's in different slots, etc. but haven't been able to fix it. |
Have you changed your graphics settings or drivers recently? My dad accidentally disabled all video drivers, which resulted in what you're describing. I eventually solved the problem by booting with "last known good settings that worked". I'd suggest trying to boot in safe mode, but if that doesn't work, try the "last settings...." option.

When you say scanning a hard drive do you mean scan disk? If so does scan disk report bad sectors or anything? Have you tried booting in safe mode (pressing f5 during boot if I remember correctly)?

Hm. I just got it into Safe Mode and it turns out that my computer no longer has those happy Safe Mode files so I'll have to repair out of a disk I've got to pry another computer open to get to. Bah.
Ah well, hopefully I'll be in order tomorrow evening then. Thanks for the help. |
