Nero
Hi all. Need a little help here. Nero 6 says that my burner is in use by another app. I can't figure this out. Win XP Pro SP2, 1.25GB RAM, 2277MHz Athlon, Asus A7N8x Deluxe 2.0, 52X CDR burner, etc. Thanks in advance for any help.

Roxio does have a habit of interfering with other software. I've gotta say it's the wierdest piece of software I've ever seen. It does some wierd stuff and is a pain in the ass to remove. |

I've rebooted many times, and I followed the advice above. I even reseated the IDE cable. Something that I didn't notice b4, trying to burn from XP, I get a fail that the CDR disc is not burnable. I've swapped out many blanks that from brands that used to work. Any ideas? I've even used System restore back to 4 July. No Go.
I'm pretty cranky about this problem, please help....

So you didn't disable XP's burn feature yet? Sounds like something is fighting both it and Nero. Try to get one working, disabling the rest. (XP's burning code isn't usually a problem for me but you have to start somewhere.)
Do you have any other CD burning software? Roxio (gag) was mentioned above, but do you have anything at all installed besides XP's built-in and Nero?

What's the complete version of Nero? They had an issue with IMAPI early in the 6 series, like before 6.1.
If the IMAPI CD-Burning COM Service is running, stop it. Start->Run->"services.msc" (without quotes) Scroll down & double click "IMAPI CD-Burning COM Service" Stop, set to manual, click OK. Quit

I'm with Cyrnel. It's more than liekly an imapi issue, I occasionally see it with Nero. Just manually stop imapi from running, then boot up Nero and see if that works.

I tried Imapi at manual, disabled and automatic. Still no-go. My burner can read cd's but always fails when I try to burn something, saying that the drive is in use by another app. I'm seriously pissed off right now. But I do appreciate the help.
