New Build
Bought it a few days ago from Newegg. Should be here middle-end of next week. My girlfriend's first build... hot damn, this is exciting.
Athlon 64 3200+ Venice core, socket 939 MSI K8N Neo4-F Socket 939 eVGA Geforce 6600GT 128 MB 128 Bit Kingston ValueRAM 1 GB (2x512) PC3200 Western Digital Caviar 80 GB SATA 150 HDD Sony 16x DVD RW Sony 16x DVD ROM Cheap Logitech Keyboard and Cheap Logitech Mouse. Now, I know we've had out disagreements about this before, but the case she finally chose is the Black NZXT Nemesis Elite. I apologize to those of you who gag when you see it. I can't help but laugh at how sweet and ninja/transformer-like it is. I mean, the eyes can change colors. All for $850, including shipping. About $800 alone. This is missing a monitor for the moment, so she'll be using an old one of mine. When she gets a little more cash, she'll buy a 19 in CRT, though she hasn't decided which. Any suggestions? Anyway... |

I would be one of those who gag at cases like that. So guady! Anywho, do 6600GTs come in 256 bit? If so, that would've been a much better option. I would suggest a better mouse if she plans to play any games on it, which I assume if your buying a 6600GT... Once you buy a MX510 or similar performance mouse, you will never go back. Seems to be an awesome build

The 6600GT only comes in 128 bit, or that would have been a 256. You had me worried for a second there.
As far as the mouse goes... she has very small hands, so the MX510 really doesn't work for her. I chose that mouse because I've used one in the past and it works well for just about any hand, and it's a good value for the money. A good mouse and mouse pad will probably be what she buys next (after the monitor, that is), but she has to find one that fits. Now if only Elder Scrolls IV would come out so I could really test the graphics (she's not too big on FPS games). Oh man, estimated delivery on Wednesday. I'm excited. Edit: Oh, we might add a good heatsink/fan or a passive heatsink if the stock cooler ends up being too loud. Have to wait and see, I guess. |
