Internet/Firewall problem
I have a Dell XPS Desktop runnning on Windows XP Media edition, and have Norton's System Works, Norton's Internet Security, Ad-Aware, Microsoft Anti-Spyware (beta edition). I normally use Firfox as my standard internet browser. www.Yahoo.com is my homepage.
Everytime that I start up Internet Explorer or Firefox it states "Alert, www.yahoo.com could not be found. Please check the name and try again." Now, if I disable Windows/Norton's firewall, I can then browse the internet as usual. I have both Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox on my firewalls exceptions list and it is still occuring... I've used all my spyware and virus checking programs and even tried online virus checker to no avail... Anyone have an idea what is causing this problem? Is it a virus, tojan, or spyware? Any help would be greatly appreciated... -Mav |
you need to allow internet browsing through your firewall.. which is why when you disable it, you can use it.

while double checking the norton's exception list i noticed several exceptions that I do not remember allowing. I removed them from the exceptions list and this seems to have solved the problem... thanks for helping me help myself :P much apprcieated, Mav |
