Playing movies on datadisc in DVD player
Ok, I ripped all of my family guy movies from season 1 - 3 and I'm wondering if I were to burn it all on the DVD disc as a datafile, would your typical DVD player still be able to play it?
I'm still tinkering around with WinDVD creator.

I take it these are avi or similar container files on an ISO DVD? If so, no.
There are a number of stand-alones that will decode MPEG-4 streams (they're sometimes marketed as DivX or XviD compatible) but most don't. You need either one of those newer players or a computer with the appropriate codecs. BTW, the stand-alones often have limited audio stream decoding. The other possibility would be to re-encode to a "standard" DVD (MPEG-2) but you'd cap your single-sided DVD to 2hrs.

If they are in .VOB then they might play them. If you ripped them into .mpeg,.avi, etc. you would have to transcode them into .vob. Nerovision Express is an awesome program to use for that. I recieved it free in an OEM suite I got with my drive so I'm not sure how much it costs.

If you have an XBOX, Xbox Media center will play them without issue, but most DVD players will not even like a copied DVD if it's not just right.

Ok, I'll go with burning onto the DVD using WinDVD Creator which should convert the *mpeg movies to the *.Vob.
Thanks for the info
