So I have this strange problem..

I moved last Friday, and everything was fine.

I'll keep this simple... I have 4 80GB hard drives. I keep my OS on one, music on another, a ton of game ISO.'s on another, and movies and shit like that on the last. Before I shut down Thursday my C drive only had 22GB used up. I get moved, put the new desk together, and get everything set up. I boot up and now all of a sudden my C drive has 70.4 GB used up.... WTF? I can't figure out how to correct it and get it reading properly. Anyone have any suggestions?

Well, I recently had a HUGE problem with my C:\ getting fscked. It ended up being the Windows Indexing Service that was eating it away. You may not get all the space back, but going into the Services CP (from Administrative Tools) and Stopping then Disabling the Indexing service may prevent future issues like this. Also, is the C:\ drive where your swap/VM space is? If so, I HIGHLY recommend moving it elsewhere. And if you are using PATA drives (not serial ATA), then make sure it's on one of the two drives that are NOT on the same cable as your C:\ drive. This will increase performance, and also clear up some space on your C:\.

Hope something here helped.

None of that was the issue, but thanks.

Anyway, I found the problem I manually went through all my directories to find where all the space was being eaten up. Somewhere in a WINDOWS folder there was a hidden directory that was eating up all the space with a shitload of temp files, and I had no clue what they were for. So I deleted all of them and restarted my PC, and all is well now...... PC's do some weird things sometimes. *shrug*

Strange. Usually it is the Windows Indexing service. Wonder what caused it? Oh well, just another useless MS tool eating space.

Hey SiN.... do you have a particular program that you have used for this you can recommend? I would love to try this on my machine at home, I have a feeling I am using a lot more space than I should be.

Thanks

Since Google is my friend.... I looked and found this one. Anyone tried this? I'm just worried that I'll use some crapware that will have a bunch of spycrap on it or something.
