Sata Raid Problem.
Was wondering if anyone can lend a bit of advice to a raid newbie. I have and ECS 915P-A mainboard and a koutech PSA150 sata raid PCI card. I chose this board because it came with a cheap p4 processor bundle. It only has the ich6 chip, not the ich6r. I wanted to put my 2 WD 800 hdd's in a RAID 0. I bought a cheap 2 channel SATA controller with a Silicon Image SIL3112 chip. I loaded the raid driver in the windows install process and everyting went fine. However, the MB only detects the onboard sata ports, not the PCI card sata ports. ECS uses an AMI bios for this board, which I have flashed up to the latest release from ECS. And the Koutech card seems to use a flash chip not supported by Silicon Image's bios flash utility. I am waiting on the ECS support folks to get around to my case # (AKA draw it randomly from a hat), so I thought I would ask here to see if anyone smarter than me had any insight.
--other thoughts Drives read fine from onboard sata ports. Drives do not read during boot from PCI card in array or in single drive mode. |

Hmm...It could be something with the interrupts. I would have hoped that it mentioned stuff like that in the manual. If not, though, I think it might not even matter what the BIOS thinks until you get into Windows, and Windows should recognize it then. Though for drives, that may not be the best situation considering you might want to boot from them. I suppose I don't have much more to offer you, but maybe simply bumping this back up to the top, somebody will have an answer for you.
