ActiveX problem
Trying to run McAfee's FreeScan and I get this:
"The Internet Explorer information bar has temporarily blocked the install of a necessary ActiveX control that is required to download and install McAfee FreeScan." Problem is information bar isn't even displayed. I've adjusted security settings made sure ActiveX is enabled. Still no luck. My big problem is pc crashing and rebooting repeatedly and when I scan with AVG it crashes before it finishes. A suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks Oh, am using XP home.

Download/Install Adaware and then run it. Run it in safe mode if you have to.
After that, post a Hijack This log and we can look at it. You sound like you have a lot of crud on your computer.....maybe even system restore might be an option for you, depending on how bad you are infected.
