need linux help (slmodem)

For fedora 2.6.9-1.667

Hi I have a asus 3200+ amd 64
smlink chipbase 56k modem( yea 56k still existe )

and I can't figure out how to let fedora detect it:
what I have done.

alright I extract the slmodem-2.9.10.tar.gz
cd slmodem-2.9.10
# make
# su
# make install
# modprobe slamr

# slmodemd --country=20 /dev/ttySL0

so that part is done

after that i try to configur the wvdial
# wvdialconf /etc/wvdial.conf

but he dosent detect anything
starts from the ttyS0

try to make something with this:
#setserial /dev/ttySL0
(all of them and not only the ttySL)
almost 2 weeks im working on this and no result, not even a click from the modem.

so after that I try with alsa, no success...
if anyone can help me I would be gratefull

and its a Smartlink 56k voice modem
I want to use windows xp only for my gaming and graphic designs.
for the rest I want Linux

Im reading eveything I can get my hands on for that modem, still no success anyways, I tryed everything I knew on this...
so HELP
thanks

P.S.Its an internal PCI modem

When you run the modprobe, do you get any useful information on the console or in the dmesg output? Sounds to me like the kernel module is either failing to load or is initializing on a different device than you think it is.

After you modprobe slamr, type "dmesg", and try and give us the basics of what is going on.

dmesg gives you the output of the kernel log, so anytime you load a device driver, they normally have a line or two in there that says if everything is okay, or if something went wrong.

I'll try and help you with whatever I can, but I have never purchased a winmodem so I'm not quite sure what to do.
