problem with dlink voi gateway
i have the dlink voi gateway, model DVG 1120M
and a linksys router my cable modem is connected to the gateway thingy. the phone and router are connected to the gateway. (my dad decided to try this new thing where our phone line goes thru the cable modem) here's the problem: when i play counter-strike, i hit lag spikes (or the game would lose connection for brief 5 seconds) everytime. and this has started to happen after we got the gateway. (my ethernet was originally connected to the router which was connected to the cable modem. had no problem before) what should i do? i want to fix something so i dont keep hitting those dam lag spikes or brief connection loss. if we can discuss one on one, pls PM your AIM sn. thanks.

Does any of your equipment have QoS on it? It means Quality of Server. Basically it means you can "rank" what type of packets you want to have the highest priority when coming and going to the internet. If you have a VOIP gateway, the it's QoS is probably set quite high. This however usually will only exist when someone is talking on the phone and you are playing that the QoS will kick in.
Which makes me ask, is someone talking on the phone when you're playing? Have you looked at Google for the DLink VOIP gateway you have and a the game you're playing?
