Thank you Dell!

A few weeks ago I posted about a video card problem i was having with my dell computer...

turns out my computer was still under warranty and the video card was covered! I called dell to set up an appointment and 2 days later they came and installed a new video card and a new cpu fan.

I was expecting a very lengthy fight with their tech support people but after chatting with them for about an hour trying different things to determine if it was my card or driver i was having problems with, they said ok well just replace the card. No problems whatsoever. :)

Say what you will about dell but the few times i have had to deal with tech support they have been great.

Don

incidentally the person they sent out said it was most likely the memory on the video card that went bad? didn't know that could even happen.

Probably a defective RAM heat sink on your video card, my 9800 pro had a similar problem (vertical stripes) one of the heat sinks shattered and did not cover the chip fully.

Warranties are golden. I burn through hard drives, I just RMA them every 8 months or so at the first sign of trouble

Glad to hear it all worked out for you

Yea Dell is wonderful, a power surge fried everything in my last computer and not even a struggle 2 days later they replaced everything inside my computer. They rock!

At the company I work for, I have Gold Tech support and next-day service for everything on the network (desktops, servers, KVM, etc.)

They are usually very good about replacing equipment that is bad.

I have a dell laptop, and haven't had a single problem with it. Dell's great...

I bought the gf a Dell laptop to have for her schooling just for warranty purposes. Been grade A spectacular about it too in the last year we have had it.

Dell's pretty good, the only problem I've found with them is if you need to order a part like for a laptop that you can't buy anywhere because it's proprietary, they don't have anywhere on their website to order them. I had to search on google, found some guys site that just happened to have all the dell part numbers but it wasn't a store, then had to call dell and tell them the part number to get it. Could be a lot easier, but besides that, they've been real great with all of our network equipment at work. If we ever need a new hard drive they'll send us a new one without us having to send the old one back. We've abused that a few times though, hope they never catch on :)

Dell's service is exceptional... I've had Dell laptops for the past several years and have never had a problem when I've had problems... I ship it off to the Depot and it is back within 48 hours... as good as new.

My screen on my dell d400 laptop got smashed, sent it of for repair and less than a week later back on my desk...although the warranty didnt cover some fool toppling his fat arse onto my desk breaking my screen...:(
