Need Advice 6800 GT Brand
I'm going to get an nVidia 6800 GT card soon. Prices have come down some and I think it's worth it now. I've surfed around and found reviews of the chipset, but I'm wondering what brand I should go with.
On Pricewatch.com the cheapest is an Apollo, followed by PNY and XFX. I'd be willing to spend the extra money on an eVga or MSI card if I thought it was worth it. So far I'm leaning toward PNY, since they're pretty cheap (less than $350), a brand I recognize, and have a good warranty. Any advice is appreciated, and if anyone knows of a better deal, please let me know. (an AGP card, not PCIe) |
Go for a BFG GT OC. Its OC'd out of the box, and their warranty is the best I've ever seen. Its a little more expensive than the crappy brands, but the one I have kicks, and its only a 6600 GT OC.

my EVGA works wonders. not sure of the prices currently but it's a beast.

As previously stated, get the BFG 6800 GT OC. It's available in both AGP 8X and PCIE. You just can't go wrrong with it. I have mine OCd more than it was out of the box to a stock 6800 Ultras speeds (both memory and GPU) and have had no problems. I even got it up to 420 Mhz once with the memory clocked at 1.2 MHz and ran 3DMark05 giving me a score of 4985 with an Athlon XP CPU and PC2100 DDR.
