PS 1 repair

Problem: I brought my PS1 to college with me, used it rarely. I stopped going to college, and brought it home with me (December). Now I feel like playing, so I plugged it in and booted it up, and the disc loads fine and everything. Only, the controllers won't do anything; the analog light won't even light up on my analog contoller, no matter if I put it in the right port or left port, and no input from the controllers will register on the PS.

Attempted solutions: I tried tightening the plug that goes from the controller ports to the "motherboard" (for lack of better name), nothing. Tried cleaning out any dirt on the controller plugs, still won't work.

Question: There is a sticker that acts as a sort of seal to the controller port circuit board that says "Caution for continued protection against fire, replace only with same type same rating fuse 3-969-533-11, 0455378". So I'm thinking there's a fuse blown somewhere behind the controller port (there's 2 boxes about 2"x1"x 1" behind each controller port and hard to get into because of these little clips). Does anyone here have any experience with PSOne or general electronics repair that might help me troubleshoot this bugger? I'm gonna keep working on it, but I figured I might as well ask you guys.

BTW: My PS has gotta be 7 years old or more, so the warranty is long gone, so I'm not worried about voiding it. And no, I don't have a mod chip or anything. I've done some research via google and I might buy this if all else fails; here's a pic of the inside of the PS (yes it's a mod site, but they're the best resource I have); the controller ports are the two silver boxes on the bottom, and the left one is covered with that sticker warning about the fuse.

Any help would be freaking awesome. Thanks!

Yeah, I have 2 controllers (analog and non-analog) here and (obviously) two ports, I've tried all 4 combinations a dozen times and tried cleaning the connections a bit, no help. I wish it were that easy ... :/

Hm, guess they are pretty cheap, aren't they? But I just enjoy tinkering with things! I'm gonna keep playing with it until I've broken it, then I'll get a new one.
