Can you give us a list of specifications on your system, any new devices you installed recently or changes?
Can you go to the event view and get the details of these crashes: inside of control panel open administrative tools, then open event viewer, select system on the left pane scroll through until you see the time it happened, it should have a red X next to it because it is an error, not just general stuff. Double click it and press the button below the up and down arrow (looks like 2 pages) this copies the info, please paste it for me so I can read it over. here is one of my errors Quote:

Well according to the one error, your installation of GIMPS is shot, try uninstalling that first off, or at least getting an updated version.
Also, the hyperlinks to http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp can be very helpful, if you click them it runs a web app that access the Microsoft Knowledgebase for error specific information and solutions.

Are you running Prime95, the program that finds Mersenne Primes? If so, have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling that program? If you are running Prime95, then your processor could very well be starting to overheat as it is EXTREMELY processor intensive. Also, from the stop bits, it looks like your processor might even be starting to go bad (just from what I've read so far).
Please at least post back whether or not you are running Prime95. Thanks For those who want to know about the great Mersenne Prime search, go to http://mersenne.org/

I'm sorry, but what is GIMPS?
I was running prime95 at one point, I thought I stopped running it....does it seem there is an instance of it running? Also, the page file, I'm sorry, but not quite sure what that is either, or how to recreate it. Thanks in advance

GIMPS stands for Great Internet Mersenne Prime Search, and the program it runs is Prime95.
The reason I asked is because in an earlier post you put: Quote:

I had a problem with my computer restarting when the cpu was running at a high usage for a long time, I blew the dust out of my heatsink and haven't had a problem since, dropped the temp almost 30 degrees F under heavy load.
I have seen XP BSODs caused by bad ram and corrupted files (often corrupted by bad ram) Good luck figuring it out. |
