Multiple iPods on same Computer...
OK i have 3 iPods and only one computer. I want different music on all of them, and i have no idea how i would go about doing this! I know i need completely different libraries but i dont want to have to go deleting everything in iTunes then putting a whole different library in all the time!
I tried exporting my library to a file but whenever i import a different library it just adds the songs together so i get all the same songs on the iPods again... So really my question is, how do i get different librarys on different ipods on the same computer??? |

You on windows or mac?
There's subtle differences, but I think the way you do it is the same. Your main library should have all your songs that you have. Make 3 playlists, one for each iPod. Now, when you plug the ipod in, on the window that lets you choose whether or not you want to automatically sync it up, or manage songs manually. Chose the second. With a blank iPod, only load the playlist for that iPod. It will only load the songs in the playlist. That's my way of doing it...

Make 3 different playlists. You can either make standard playlists (where you drag and drop songs into the list to add to it) or Smart playlists (which automatically generate themselves based on certain criteria). For example, my wife and I both have an iPod, but about 90% of the music in the Library is mine. So, any songs that are specifically hers (ie I don't want them on my iPod) have her name in the "Comment" field of the song (right-click any song in the library to manually edit title, album, genre, etc.) Then, I made a smart playlist called "Derwood" whose criteria was "All Songs Without NAME in Comment Field", thus filtering out her songs. For her playlist, she just drags the few songs she wants from the library to her iPod manually.
Under "Edit", go to "Preferences." The second tab says "iPod". Click that WITH AN IPOD HOOKED UP TO YOUR COMPUTER. You have three options of how to update (Automatic, Manual, or Specific Playlists). Choose the Playlists option and choose whichever playlist you want on that iPod and voila!
