What do you Tivo?

Hmm, Moderator, this maybe should be in Entertainment, instead of electronics... You decide.

So I just bought Tivo (for DirecTV). I get to tape 2 things at once, and if there is something on my local channels, I can be watching that at the same time. This is going to revolutionize tv watching at my house (or maybe just make me waste a lot more time watching TV)

So what shows do you Tivo? I noticed that I have been searching for hours for weird, strange, and other random tv shows that I would never watch.

Season pass:
24, Alias, MXC (Most extreme challenge on SpikeTV, if you haven't seen it, do yourself a favor and look it up), Dr. Who (not on often, but when it is, I'm in), Beverly Hills 90210 (brings me back to my glory days), Survivor, The Amazing Race, Pimp my Ride, Viva La Bam

Well anyways, I thought it would be fun to see what people Tivo. Who knows, maybe I'll search for some of the shows you like to watch.

If you haven't seen it, check out tivocommunity.com; you will learn a lot about your TiVo. One interesting thing you will discover, about a month from now, is that you will have dropped some shows that you presently watch; that's because they are merely the best thing on at the time of day that you are watching.

Also, remember that just because the TiVo recorded it, doesn't mean you have to watch it.

And your TiVo isn't complete without Mythbusters and The Daily Show.

(Did you already confirm your account through TiVo? I'd love the referral code, if you haven't yet.)

I have the DVR through Dish Network

Set up to record weekly:

Mythbusters
Law & Order
West Wing
The Apprentice
ER
Medium
Deadwood
Canivale
General Hospital (my wife is an addict, so I watch it with her....no, really)

I also have about 35 hours of: Blue's Clues, SpongeBob, etc. for when I need a break from the kids

And of course, every now and then, I record a movie, a Biography or something on History/Discovery/TLC/CourtTV

Amazing how I feel the I can't live without it now that I have it--haven't upgraded to the dual receiver yet, Dish Network tends to be a little buggy with new releases of equipment.

Tivocommunity is good for tips. One of the things you can do now is start going through the guide and marking things you like with the thumbs up. I would put three thumb downs right away on any paid programming type or home shopping stuff. Also, make sure you set the tivo so that it doesn't record channels that you don't recieve, such as ppv type channels.

I loved my tivo during the NFL season, since I had NFL sunday ticket and could tape a couple games to watch if one was on at the same time as the other I wanted to watch that week. Or just go do something on sunday instead of watching football and then watch the games at night.

Current things I have on my season pass list:
The apprentice
X Files - got my wife to start watching so we are watching them in order.
Sex in the City (for my wife)
American Idol (for my wife)
Bunch of different things on the history channel
World Poker Tour
The Wonder Years (in hopes that they start showing them again my tivo will start recording it. They used to show on ABC Family channel or something like that)
Frontline
Nova
I could go on... I think I have 30 season passes.

Really cool things you can do - make wishlists. I did this so if there is ever a show on about the Arizona Cardinals like an old game replay, its taped. Or anything with the actor Steve McQueen, its taped. Stuff like that.

Money's been a little tight lately, and we had to drop the premium movie channels. So what my girlfriend and I have been doing lately is we get the movie channels when they run discounted or freebie specials, Tivo a crapload of movies, and then drop the movie channel again when the trial ends. Then we have a supply of free movies until the next special comes up. :)

I have a DVR through Dish network. I've recorded a shit load from the History channel. On a weekly basis, I record Alias and Lost. There are others here and there, but those are the only two consistent.

Another DishDVR owner here. We have a 522 and are using both inputs and outputs. I don't know what my roommates above me record, but I record:

Star Trek: TNG
Viva la Bam
Lizzie McGuire
Degrassi: TNG
Aqua Teen Hungerforce
Family Guy (reminder only, I have all the DVD's)
Seinfeld (2x)
The Screen Savers
WWE Raw
WWE SmackDown
... the occasional odd movie here and there

Love my Tivos.... have 2... rock solid product.

season passes and wishlists are a plenty.

the suggestions fill up the 300+ hour Tivo pretty well...so there's always something to watch.

I have two modified TiVo's. Both with 250gig drives in them, and TiVoWEB. Plus, I write software and whatnot for my TiVo's.

Seasonpass:
The Apprentice
Boston Legal
Desperate Housewives
Mythbusters
Iron Chef America
