2 Problems: Fullscreen DVD playback & Disabling LAN
Hello all (again),
I have two problems, and was hoping some of you might be able to help me with them: 1. When I watch a DVD in Windows Media Player in full screen mode, it doesn't actually go completely 'full screen'. The bottom and top don't touch the edges of the screen, but thats perfectly fine. The problem is that the left and right side also dont completely expand. So the screen looks like a rectangle in a larger rectangle. My resolution is: 1280 x 800, its a Widescreen Sony Vaio VGN-S2 series laptop. 2. I'm connected to the web wirelessly, so I always disable the Local Area Network to remove the icon from the taskbar. However, I just reformatted, and now everytime I disable it, after a while it enables itself automatically again. Any idea what might be causing this? Any ideas on both of these issues? Thanks |

What version of WMP? Old versions weren't as flexible about X:Y ratios. I rarely use it and haven't tried it on a widescreen resolution. Have you tried other players?

Not sure about WMP, but it might have something thats keeping the aspect ratio where it should be instead of maximizing it. I know on PowerDVD you can tell it whether or not you want it to keep the aspect ratio.

if you have a widescreen monitor, and you dont have a widescreen dvd im pretty sure wmp wont stretch it for you. I know it wont do it for .avi's you download. I have a widescreen laptop and it always plays non widescreen or HDTV movies in a perfect square rather than stretching it.
