Blue Screen of Death due to Video Card?
I am having quite the problem with my computer.
Before I get into it, I have a a Pentium 4 (2.40 GHZ), Win XP, and a Radeon 9600 XT. Now then, I got this new video card for Christmas and installed it without a hitch. There's no problems running games or watching videos, everything is great. But not too long after installing it, I noticed that whenever my computer ran a virus scan, or even a spyware scan, I would get the Blue Screen. The scan would be going along hummingly until it started to scan .DLL files, and then it would be Blue Screen for me. So my question is, did the video card somehow corrupt a DLL file, was it corrupt on it's own, or is it even a matter of corruption? Is there some sort of utility I could download that could scan my DLLs and report any problems? I haven't been able to scan my computer for a good two months and I am at the end of my rope. Please help! |

You might try this:
Put your XP disk in the drive, and type "sfc /scannow" (without quotes) as a run command. This will sometimes help with .dll file problems - it is a System File Checker Edit: it is hard to see, but there is a space between "sfc" and "/scannow" More Info: LINK
