MAILCLNT.EXE
 

I've googled most tech support boards with no real help.
I down loaded earthlink then went to another ISP.
Now I can't open attachments from aol or earthlink friends.
I get a message Mailclnt.exe not found.
It's been wipe clean.

The last repair tip I tried was go to start/run and type msimn /reg
didn't do a thing.

I see from all the hits on google that this has been an on going problen
when people switch from earthlink to another ISP

Any help from Tfp techies? :confused: :D

are you using outlook, outlook express, or another mail client? this is important to know. Also, are there any other error messages involved and who is your current ISP now?

must be some sort of email client like dksuddeth said.

What kind of attachments?

I'm using a local provider atlantic net. The attachments that I can't open are from aol
pictures, jokes everything so far. Yes, I'm using outlook express. No other error
messages. Don't want to run rescue disks yet.....

can you open any attachments at all?

I found this, give it a try.

go to your OE click the tools menu
click options,
click securty tab, and
UNCHECK where it says "do not allow attachements to be saved or opened that could potentially be a virus blah blah blah"...
then click ok and
close OE and
re open OE

let us know.

I can open all attachments unless they are sent from earthlink
or aol... I googled agian and nothing else from the the tech guy either
just an ongoing problem from people trying to delete earthlink.

Open any folder, go to Tools/Folder Options/File Types. Look through this list, it may take awhile, and see if anything is using MAILCLNT.EXE. If it is, try and get rid of it and see if that solves your problem.

what is the error message you are getting trying to open those attachments. Please be very specific. Also, what are some examples of the attachments, like a .jpg?

I had all my programs backed up so I ran a rescue disk.
problem solved. still don't know what or why earthlink is such
a pain in the ass to remove. Thanks to all
who tried to help.
