Satellite and a multiplexor
I have a couple of dvr sat recievers and I can to the watch/record different channel bit no problem. But my wife wants me to move one of the tvs and I dont want to have to string a bunch of new lines. Anyone know if I can run one line and multiplex/diplex it so I can do the 2 channel bit? Or do I have to have a direct line to the satellite for each tuner.

all the dual LNBF setups that I've seen require a line all the way back to the dish. . .but then there could be somethign out there I don't know about.

shakran is on the right track. Each receiver needs a direct line up to the dish. Diplexing won't accomplish anything, as there isn't enough bandwidth on an RG-6 cable to hold 2 signals. You could get a RF extender kit for the receiver and keep it in its present location. You would be able to operate the receiver from anywhere in the house. They usually run around $80.

If you could get a powered multiplexor that would work fine, wouldn't it?
A powered one amplifies the signal, so that you can pretty much run cables as long as you want. I've got expressvu at home, and we have 4 tv's connected. I did have to connect two lines from the sattelite to the multiplexor, however, simply because the multiplexor needed a better signal strength...not sure why that was when it was powered, but give it a try |
