Partitioner Program...

..Where could i find one of these programs?

My HD is a 200gig, But 70 gigs of it i need to partition for windows to recognize it..Not sure why, Maybe somebody who knows anything about this can fill me in?

It's a 200gig Maxtor on XP Pro.

Thanks.

Did you try letting it partition as 70 GB and then in the XP Hard disk manager, expanding the disk, once XP has installed?

yes, with partition magic, you do NOT have to reinstall.

Well, you'd have to buy it for $70 or steal it as I'm under the impression that the demo version won't let you do anything.

Personally, if you're just using it to partition I would suggest BootIt NG as it offers non-destructive resizing as well. It's not as intuitive as Partition Magic, but it isn't going to cost you $70 either as it's completely free.

so, it's not a SATA disk, it's an IDE disk...

in which case the SATA 130 gig problem does not apply.

Partition Magic is not free.

You can find it on their website via Google and that's all we can/will tell you about that.

Acronis also makes a partition program. Also not free.

Not aware of any major freeware partitioning programs.

Try using the Disk manager in XP first, you may not need Partition Magic. Right click on "My Computer", select "Manage", under "Storage" in the tree is "Disk Manager".

Are you able to tell if it's possible by looking at this pic?

I've had good experiences with Partition Magic. It has a slick interface, and tries its hardest to be newbie-friendly. Whatever you use, defrag first to minimize the chances that you'll isolate a fragment or do something weird.

[wwwwww....oooo..w..www] is not a partition you want to see
[wwwwwwwwww........oooo] is much better
