DVD--->Mpeg?

Anybody know of a good program that will convert DVD to Mpeg?

Free is always good.

Thanks.

dvddecrypter does the trick.
the files are saved as .vob, but you can just change the extension.

Wow, that was quick.

Thank you very much--all I needed to know was that you can change the extension.

Much appreciated.

SOB, native dvd vob files are already MPEG-2, with css as playback control. DVDDecrypter will strip css and rip the files nicely but it won't shrink the files or convert them to other formats. For smaller MPEG-4 (XviD/DivX/etc) you'll need more tools and time. Check Gordian Knot and other encoding goodies at places like <a href="http://www.doom9.org/software2.htm#divxencs">doom9.org</a>.
