Soulseek problems

i upgraded to version 155 from 152 a few days ago. I wasn't surprised when my lists were deleted, etc, at first. However, now every single time I log out and back in again, everything is reset. It asks for my password, which it has never done before. When I get in, all my lists are cleared, and I have to choose a new destination folder and a new share folder. It gets old pretty fast when I have to wait for it to do a scan through all of my files everytime I log on.

Anyone have any idea why it is doing this? Thanks.

OK - I usually have to re-set my shared folders that are on mapped network drives every time I start soulseek (after a windows reboot).
And it re-indexes then of course after.
(my destination/incoming folder I don't have to re-set, because I do NOT have that shared).

re-indexing, while it takes a while when you have 14000+ files ... makes sense, because things can change in the meantime - moving stuff around, etc.

when you say your lists are cleared - your queue and userlist as well?

you may also want to go to soulseek support forums. :)

EDIT --

just started slsk - did NOT have to re-add my shared dirs on network drives ... my computer's been rebooted but the networked one has not.

it cleared your lists?? that's odd.. I did the upgrade and everything was still intact. Did you unistall the old version before you upgraded or did you just install over 152? slsk will reindex everytime you start up (as SiN said) so don't be worried about that..indexing is a good thing.

Thanks for the answers!
I just did the basic upgrade, without uninstalling 152 first. Its like, every time I restart it, everything is reset (gone), including queues and lists and my setings for my own downloads and uploads. Before, with 152, everything would stay as when I had left it, unless I had any changes to the contents of my music files, in which case it would make the indexing adjustments automatically.

Um... I'm not too familiar with the concept of mapped network drives... judging from your italics this is an important thing?

Is there a way to save who is on my user lists so they are not lost everytime I log out?

I'm thinking I probably have some box checked or unchecked that I am not aware of.

Yeah, perhaps I'll try the support forums there also... although you can tell that I hold TFP in such high regard to try here first.

1. mapped network drives are something you would know if you had them ;)
(basically, a drive on another computer on the LAN that you set up in your windows to show up in your 'My Computer' drive list ...)

2. you really shouldn't have lost anything when you reinstalled. did you by chance back up all of your config files? (.cfg - in your prog files/soulseek dir). If so, try dumping them in there and overwrite what's there.
I did a windows reinstall and a soulseek upgrade and everything saved itself through my config files.

.....anyways, a quick lookie @ slsknet forums seems like you have corrupted config files, and you're not alone.

check this thread there - http://forums.slsknet.org/BB2/viewto...=corrupted+cfg

basically just delete your cfg's, start slsk, set everythign up, close it, restart it.

good luck.

cool, thanks SiN. I really appreciate it.
