Good enough vid card?
Hi, I just got a 21" Samsung LCD ( 213t ) and I was wondering if I need to upgrade my video card along with the monitor. I currently have an ATI AIW Radeon video card, this is the first AIW Radeon card that came out like 2 or 3 years ago, so I think it's equivalent to a Radeon 7000 (or something like that). The card does have a resolution setting of 1600 x 1200 which is the native resolution of the monitor.
My major complaint is that the TV function throguh the AIW looks a lot worse on the LCD than on my regular 19" CRT. Is this because the LCD display is capable of displaying much greater detail and it magnifies the flaws of my TV signal, or is it that I need to upgrade to a newer AIW video card? I really like the LCD but the TV looks horrible on it, much much worse than on the CRT. |

A newer video card would help with things other than the TV. Your current video card will have trouble displaying those images as that resolution is very high. As for the TV signal, I dunno what would be causing the distortion, maybe the difference in resolutions?
