Acrobat 7 for linux? - Tilted Forum Project Discussion Community

I see on the Acrobat webpage (http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html) that there was apparently a linux beta of acrobat 7 that they have pulled. I presume they got all the input they needed and are working out the bugs.

My question: Did anybody here at TF participate in the beta? Do you still have your copy of Acrobat 7? Acrobat 5 blows and I'd like to try it out.

Note to mods: Acrobat Reader is free software, so I don't think I'm stepping on any toes by requesting it here. If I am, by all means delete this post.

Yeah I have xpdf, but I actually prefer acrobat 5 over xpdf -- xpdf doesn't implement all of the nifty PDF thingys like text selection, zooming, etc. Or if it does, it doesn't do it easily enough for me to enjoy myself doing it.

And OO.o....you must be crazy. I'm not going to open OO.o every time I want to view a stinking PDF!!!

Of course I'm riding on the assumption here that Acrobat 7 for linux is going to be a marked improvement over the ultra-old-skool Motif-based Acrobat 5 for linux. Has anybody even *seen* Acrobat 7 for linux? Is it any better? Does the scroll wheel work?!

xpdf does in fact do things like text selection, etcl. I've never tried the newer version of Acrobat on Linux; so far xpdf is light enough and functional enough to fulfil all my pdf requirements.

Here's a link to a page which has all the xpdf commands, such as text selection, on it. A lot depends on using the key-bindings, which, if you just print out next to you, become much faster than the mouse!
