Program Defaults...
So.
I don't have my computer set up at the moment, and it won't be for a while. I'm on my family computer. I would LIKE to have an email program rather than web mail. So I set up Outlook to have my account info when I'm logged on. Only thing is... it doesn't work. It tells me that "the address book failed to load," and it won't let me compose a new message because of that... for whatever reason. So I moved on. I don't like Outlook that much, anyway. I install Eudora. I set up my account. I set it as the default mail program thinking that windows XP would allow me to have one default program and other users on the computer to have different defaults. Think again, Moose. Now everyone's default mail program is Eudora, and that doesn't go down too well with the fam. Anyway. So I set Outlook Express as the default program for everyone again. No problems there. Only thing is, now EVERY TIME I start Eudora, it becomes the default program. Changing it back every time I use it becomes slightly annoying. I've tried setting the program defaults through the Control Panel, I've tried setting it through Outlook... to no avail. I've looked through every option I can find in Eudora to see if there's an "automatically set as default mail program" option, and I got nothing there. I've tried uninstalling the program, setting the default, reinstalling. Apparently my information is still there. Even after deleting the folders. Some registry entry that doesn't get deleted when you UNINSTALL. W T F. Any ideas, guys? Help would be much appreciated. Thanks. Edit: Nevermind. I got it. I had looked at the eudora.ini before, but it turns out there are TWO eudora.ini files in DIFFERENT places, each that perform DIFFERENT tasks. All I had to do was change two variables... WarnDefaultMailto from 0 to 1 (To check if I want to program to be default) and DefaultMailto from 1 to 0 (to change it from the default) So... sorry for the unnecessary post. Next question, I suppose, is why the shit are there two eudora.ini files? But that's for another day, I suppose. Last edited by MooseMan3000; 02-02-2005 at 03:42 PM.. |
