Weird Power LED Behavior
I recently changed my motherboard to a Biostar M7NCD, and it has been excellent except for one little problem: the power LED on the case sometimes doesn't come on. If I were to shut down my computer, unplug the power cable, and plug it back in, the LED wouldn't turn on when I turned on my computer. However, if I simply shut it down without unplugging the power, and turn it back on, the LED would work properly. The IDE LED, however, always works fine. I definitely hooked it up correctly, and I can't figure out this problem.
Also, sometimes, especially when under load, my computer makes a whistling sound. Any hypotheses as to that annoyance? |

Inspect all the motherboard screws that connect the board to the case. Perhaps one (or more) is not installed properly. Check and see if you have proper clearence between the MB and case. There should be standoffs where you screw the MB to the case.

Well............
I'm not sure how much you know about electronics and what you feel comfortable doing. But you could modify a molex connector with a resistor, bringing the voltage down to 3V. Then hook the power LED to it. You could even use a spare USB header, though they're 5V instead of 12V. |
