Creative Nomad MP3 player users?
ANyone have one of these?
I found one at our local best buy on the return rack because it didn't have the book in the box. They marked it down 75 bucks and I had a buddy hang onto it for me. I was looking at the site, and I was just curious, do I have to copy the mp3's file by file over? Or can I actully put all the folders (I have alot of complete albums) and then the nomad will shuffle through them? Just curious. Also, is there any FM transmitters that work with it? |

the software that comes with the nomad (at least it came with my zen xtra 40GB player) includes a little program called Nomad Explorer. what it does is make a little icon in your windows explorer window (like a regular drive would)... then you simply highlight all of the folders on your harddrive that you want to put on your player and drag them to the Music Library folder under icon and it copies them across.
if you don't have the software CD when you get it, you can download the software from the creative nomad site. as for FM transmitters, i dunno which ones work best. i have an old one, but using it isn't going to be good enough for me. i'm gonna buy one of these deals: http://www.cardomain.com/item/PACAUXBOX to put a line in to my car's stereo... |

I just bought one of these. I guess I should have asked sooner but, if you have one of these, are you happy with it? Or should I have bought an iPod like the rest of the herd?
Any accessories that I must have?

i'm thrilled with my 40GB model. and it was $150 less than the 40GB iPod. don't get me wrong, i think the iPod is very cool and i would have liked to get one, but i felt that my budget was around $300 for an mp3 player. my choices were the 20GB iPod, or a couple of other 20GB players that are priced around the same, or the 40GB creative nomad zen xtra. i decided that i'd rather have a more basic player (doesn't have the cool touch scroll thing like most of those $300-ish 20GB players) with enough space for most of my CD collection.
as for accessories, the only thing i really want to get is the interface that will give me an aux input in my car so that i can listen to the creative player there. headphones and the player is enough for me. |

Well, I was just about ready to order the 5GB with FM tuner mode (Creative Zen Micro), but ... now that I see the 40GB model .. .Cool. I might get that instead.
I've always used the flash drive models. Do the HD models work well for jogging?

not so sure about that, Val_1. first off, they're pretty heavy compared to the flash models, and there are moving parts in the harddrive models. i can't say personally because i don't jog, but my guess is that joggers wouldn't enjoy carring the 40GB player around as much as the 5GB player which is considerably smaller. also, the 40GB player doesn't have an FM tuner. but still, it works for what i need - load it at home, listen at work. i also intend to get the necessary equipment to play it in my car, so then it'll be even better!
