Best way to organize files?
Every time i build a new system, i always try to improve the organization of the hard drive.
I've had separate partitions for media / documents / programs Had a central media folder which branched out into video, audio, pictures, programs, others. I've used my desktop as a temporary file dump, so i know what i have to delete. I've built a massive favorites list, which right now is highly unorganized. So, any insightfull tips on how i should organize my files on my new system? |
I actually have entire drives dedicated to stuff like that...literally. I do a lot of digital audio/video work, so I need ridiculous amounts of storage space.
Anyway, I have a system drive, a "my documents" drive, a current projects drive, a "waiting for me to stop being lazy and fucking archive it already" drive, a "files i need often enough to warrant storing them on a drive" drive, a "miscelleaneous crap" drive, and an external Firewire drive for backup copies of the My Docs driv and the current projects drive. All in all, it totals 365GB. 1 for every day of the year. For those of you counting on your fingers, I'm using an Abit AT7 mobo, that has 6 (count em) channels of IDE onboard, so I can have a total of 12 IDE devices. It has a Highpoint RocketRAID 404 controller built in. MPEDrummerr |
