Video playback issues
This is actually happening on two computers, but the primary issue is on my laptop.
Win XP Home Edition and my Win 2k box Both intel P4s, the Xp box is HT The only common thread between the two is I did SP1/SP2 as well as the windows media player 10. When I try and play 1/2 of all vidoes now it will load, not pull up a time or anything. Then if you hit play it'll think for a second and then go to stopped. It doesn't throw an error code or antying. I tried reinstalling divx thinking that was the problem, nope. The Divx player doesn't play these files either (saves on my HDD or off the web). Then if you try and preview the movies on my HDD, a preview screen won't even come up. I was thinking the SP2 toasted my codecs but it never prompts me to re-intall any. Any help would be greatly apprecated! |
Hmmm. With media player 10, I just installed the Ace Mega Codec pack and it plays everything I throw at it. Have you tried it?

Nope but I will now

I'm confused as to why updating to MWP 10 made it so I couldn't play MPEG files but this cured it, thanks for the help DocBungle!
