I just bought a house that already has the surround sound speaker mounts already mounted on the walls and they're already wired (nice! saves me some work) I already have a receiver and two frntal speakers so all I need is a sub and the four surrounds. Anybody know where I can get a deal?

Do you like buying on the internet ? Because that's the best deal your going get anywhere.

I buy the majorty of electronics online. Know a good site? I've been through ebay and I realy don't want to buy anything used. And I can't find any wholesaler there that sells systems in pieces.

I just want you to know that any electronics bought from unauthorized dealers have NO WARRANTY and you're fucked if you ever have any problems. The only places that are authorized dealers are those like Best Buy, Circuit City, Crutchfield, etc.. Why not buy from an authorized source and support a local dealer? Best of luck getting help from any online seller.

try going to some retail stores. If you're lucky, you might find some good deals there.

I bought my klipsch speakers local because of warrenty issues. I could find them online for a bit cheaper, but i want to know that if anything goes wrong, i can do something about it.

It's true what they say about buying in store.Always have the safety net.Unless the deal is too good to pass up.

If you're an audio-phile, go for a timbre-matched set.

I would say the best quality is by far klipsh speakers and eclipse speakers. I would say best buy is a good place to get them or any other reputible dealer. But as far as good deals go, i dont know where to recommend.

I totally agree with your post, but I have to point something out--those are *not* local dealers. They are huge chains, and I have no issue buying something somewhere else over supporting them. Now, the local audiophile shop, sure, Ill throw them a bit more cash, but thats like saying Wal-Mart is a local store and you should support them over the corner grocer.

My 2 cents:
Cent #1: I don't think timbre matching is critical for the surrounds. For the front soundstage, then yes it's important. But the surrounds are basically ambience, which to me implies a lot of midrange, which most speakers do pretty well.
Cent #2: There are some quality internet speaker mfgrs. Axiom and Ascend are very well thought of. Axiom has a very generous shipping and return policy.

my suggestion is to ask this question on a forum geared towards home theater, i.e. ecoustics.com or avsforum.com . . . i've been on both of these forums the past few weeks and have learned a ton. just make a new thread in the appropriate forum, list what you have, what you'll be using the system for and your price range and you'll get plenty of good feedback.
