dead monitor
I'm running a Dell 2400 series. I have had no issues with it up till today.
The monitor goes blank upon loading into windows. I can hear the windows welcome chime, but it is still blank. The screen works when booting up and dies when it loads to windows. I tested out the same computor with another screen from the house. Same results. The LED light goes amber when it dies. I have tried the usual unplug and replugging. no dice. Any recommendations? |

Sounds like it's unable to display your desktop. Try restarting in safe mode.
If that works, change to the lowest resolution and colour depth possible, then restart in normal mode and step up the settings untill the moniter goes black again, then go one step back. |

Check the video card and see if it's not seated in the slot correct. Also check the video cable from the monitor, the pins can break, too. If there are missing pin(s) in the cable, check the PC and see if the broken pins are still in the VGA port.
If the monitor isn't too old, see if you can reset it to default, usually a small button that you will need a small pin to access. |
