Dynamic Disk Unreadable
MY pc had been running like crap lately and I decided it was time to reformat.
I moved everything important to my second hard drive and then reinstalled XP Pro onto the first drive. XP loaded fine but I cannot access my second drive. It was loaded as a dynamic drive before. Now the drive is shown under Computer Management as "Disk 1 Dynamic Unreadable". Does anyone know any ways of fixing this? I really really hope I'm now out of luck. That's all I need. |

Anyway, using iRecover I can see all my files, so hope is on its way to being restored. Anyone know a good way to recover the data without paying for the full version of programs? |

Just an update if anyone (i.e. no one) cares...
After letting data recovery software successfully retrieve about 80% of my data (and thankfully all the non replacible stuff (pictues, past homeworks, etc), I began running all my windows update. I decided to goto SP2 too see how it would work for me. Lo and behold the drive is back. No where in my searching did it say dynamic disks must be at least sp1 or better (an assumption based on the beginning, middle, and current state of my pc) to be seen and usable. I hate MS and I hate myself for not researching better. Off to swear some more as one of my 2k boxes just crapped out on me, but at least I can still see the other 2 partitions. |
