Firefox.exe disappeared
Okay so I updated to 1.0 from .91. After updating I wanted to be sure that it worked so I tried it out- no problems I checked the version number... fine.
So then I went to add/remove programs and removed .91 then... the desktop shortcut disappeared, and I can't find the firefox application in the firefox folder. I went back to add/remove and it shows .9 gone, but 1.0 still there. I could delete 1.0 and reinstall, but what I'm really worried about is that all of my bookmarks are gone. I have zilllions including some school. Any ideas? Is the app hidden or named something wierd besides firefox.exe? |
I just reinstalled 1.0 again and everything seems fine including bookmarks. It's just wierd though. Why would it uninstall both versions?

find and move your bookmarks folder to another directory, apart from your firefox directory. uninstall all firefox applications from your add/remove programs directory. delete anything left over in the firefox directory. redownload and reinstall firefox 1.0 and replace your bookmarks in the appropriate place.

Your bookmarks are in a folder somewhere. Simply find it and copy it to a new location and then copy it back once Firefox is set up again. To be on the safe side, you should always have that favorites folder backed up on disc, anyway.

Firefox bookmarks are kept under "Documents and Settings\<username>\ something else here", at least in Windows XP.
