got Italics?
My comp certainly does. Half of everything shows up in italics right now. Winamp playlist, everything on the fark.com webpage (this site comes up normally), the words in that blue screen during shutdown...it's all over and it's very confusing. I have an idea on what caused it: I was fixing up this comp, so I decided to reinstall XP. I started running the setup and jazz, and it warns me that installing on a partition with an already existing OS might screw things up, but there's no 'reformat' or 'kill old OS with a rusty knife' option, so against my better judgement, I do it anyway. It runs fine, but gives me an annoying option every startup asking which OS do I want to run, "XP Home edition" or "XP Home edition" (Yes, same exact wording) So I figured out which one was the new one (rather easy), and I delete the old one using Windows Explorer so I don't have that DOS dialogue at startup eac time. That's when I start noticing these weird italics appearing all over. It's rather weird and kinda funny at first but...it starts getting on your nerves. Has anyone ever had anything like this before? Thanks for any help!

Try this:
Start - Settings - Control Panel - Display. Click on the Appearance tab. Click on the Advanced Button. A new window should open up called "Advanced Appearance". Under the Item Dropdown, you can select appearance options. One of them will probably highlight the Italics button. Just just click it to release Italics and should return to normal. I'm assuming this is what you're looking for. Let us know if it isn't.

Meh, I wish it was that simple. I double checked, and it's none of those options. And I've been checking and the italics aren't quite everwhere, like I thought. They seem to be limited to the following things:
Certain Websites Winamp (playlist only) on Windows shutdown I can't find it anywhere else...however, I do recognize a pattern: It only occurs where it's supposed to be Arial or Times New Roman. Maybe I just need to reinstall those fonts. Anyone know how to do that? Fonts scare me. |

Start - Settings - Control Panel.
Double Click on the folder labeled "Fonts". Click on File and then click "install new font"
