check the bios revision, make sure it's current.
i'd try the most all unplugged bit again, a few times, see if that's consistent. add hardware 1 at a time. and, check bios settings. don't have enough info to be more specific . |
Maybe a bad drive...double check jumper settings...maybe doesn't like a drive.

wow stoop-idest thing ever...the board apparently doesnt like not having a HDD attached to it and he had the IDE ribbon in upside down. Flipped it and it worked. wow, his board is real pissy haha
|
heh @ blaming the board :p

This is easily and usually overlooked, reseat the RAM in the banks. Clean the contacts with some rubbing alcohol. RAM can be the culprits of many weird things. If this doesn't work, check the MB website to see if it's compatible with the AMD 64. Good luck.

What was he planning on doing without a hard drive hooked up anyway? "Shitty fucking motherboard won't let me boot without my hard drive wtfsor."

yeah stupid motherboard detected that if it were to boot up normally it would have destroyed the hard drive. How dare it not destroy the hard drive!
