Backing up data from HD to DVD.
Is this even possible? I was always under the impression that I could use DVD's to back up data from my hard drive. I recently bought a DVD burner but the program that came with it appears to only burn movies. I just woke up and the coffe hasnt kicked in so if this is a totally stupid question just let me know and Ill keep trying to figure it out.

You can typically burn both DVD movies and data discs. It is entirely possible your specific program is only able to burn DVDs, but that'd mean you need a seperate program to burn data discs. I recommend getting a copy of Nero Burning Rom (version 6). That allows you to burn everything.

You just need a different type of program to do that, such as Nero or Roxio, or if you can't get your hands on those programs, you can try using windows xp's built in utility, that is providing you have xp. Just open up windows explorer, and drag your files to the dvd writer icon, after you're done, double click on the dvd writer icon, and from the menu on the left choose to burn.

I wouldn't advertise that you're illegally obtaining software.
that said, nero will help you to burn data to dvd with ease.
