Programs that delete emails after they've been sent?

Someone was aking me about this at work, and now I'm interested. He said he heard on some radio show that there are program's that can delete an email after you've already sent it to someone's mailbox. Has anyone heard of something like this? I don't even see how it's possible.

It's possible in networks such as AOL provided you're sending it to another AOL user.

Other than that though, I don't know how something like that would work.

I see it as *maybe* being possible that if, like stated above, you were working through the same server(s).

But I'd still probably chalk it up as "an ignorant buffoon had no idea what he/she was hearing".

Yup, this is possible. Bribe the admin on the receving server ;-). You could also stop it if it's still in the outgoing queue on your server.... 'course, if the mail has already been downloaded, you're SOL

It is essentially DRM for your email. If the user has the Outlook plugin enabled, it works directly. If not, they are redirected to a secure webserver that displays the content until expired. Or that's how it worked when I played with it a few years ago.

They used to allow personal use, and sold a commercial solution. Not sure if they allow free use still.

Pretty neat stuff.

Yeah, but why would anyone be using Outlook? Unless, of course, they want viruses
