Monitor problems...
OK, I just got a 19 inch Envision EN910E monitor, and I'm having some problems. I run XP in 1024x768, and had to play around with the center, size, and pincushion settings on the monitor to actually make it fill the screen and be generally square. The problem is, when I play any games or do anything in a different resolution, the screen looks deformed, and uses about half the monitor screen. If I then play around with the settings for about 5 minutes, I can get it straight there, but then have to play with it again when I go back to XP.
Any ideas here?

Actually, your problem is most likely related to the refresh rates you're using. A 21" monitor should be able to do 1024x768 at something insane like 85Hz. If you run it at the default 60Hz, the monitor won't display the image correctly (might be why you had to do so much adjustment in the base case). Under your display properties, make sure you're using the "Optimal" refresh rate for your monitor (and make sure you're not using "Default Monitor"). In theory Windows should interpret "Optimal" as "consult the driver every time I switch resolutions and pick the best one". This should extend to 3-D modes as well.

On a side note, I have an envision EN-770e.
I tried to make it work properly with my desktop (with a 7500 radeon) for about 2 days, before I decided to return it. I have refresh problems, screen size problems, and the adjustment buttons never worked. It also blurred whenever there was hard drive activiry. The guy at the store I bought it just sighed, gave me a comparable monitor, a viewsonic, for $50 bucks more. It very well could have been that batch he had, but mine was the 12th of 15 that was returned. He didn't even check to see if it was acting up; he took my word. The amazing part was, he gave me the bad monitor; the envision supplier wouldn't pay for return shipping when the write-off cost was less then shipping. I decided to avoid envision in the future. It will be a fish-tank; it is currently gutted and I hope to complete to project before Christmas. |
