anyone have any "HEAT" issues with their Onkyo receivers?

mine gets so hot if you put your hand on top of it you could just about burn yer skin...I have nothing stacked on it and there is about 2 inches of space between it and the glass shelf above it. maybe no big deal, but thought I would throw it out there.

What model reciever is it? Also how long does it take to get to this extremely hot state. A friend of mine has one and his doesnt get extremely hot, but it certinly does create a good bit of heat. Onkyo's generally create much more heat than other brands. They even recommend more clearence space above it than other recievers, I would check the manual for the clearence space required and as long as you follow it you should be fine. I wouldn't worry too much about it unless it starts acting up or creating a strange smell. :)

I've been out for a bit, but thanks for the info bal8664. Glad to hear that Onkyo does generate more heat than others. so far,seems to be no trouble. I have the TX-NR801 and it seems to be a great receiver. excellent sound quality, a treat for me, have not had that type of quality b-4.

Two inches on top may not be enough if air is not circlating.
It needs to get cool air.

If you can, bring the amp "out" of the cabinet as far as it will go, to get fresher air.
See if it runs cooler.

Get one of those small clip on electric fans. Plug it in to the outlet on the back of the receiver so it only comes on when the receiver is on...this will greatly improve the cooling.

Never had any problems with mine getting too warm, older model TX SV919THX.
