How sad and geeky is this?
Well, I have finally had enough of Windows XP for a while. Until my new hard drive arrives, I'll be in Fedora Core 3 all the time. Well, I don't have the installation discs to hand, so while they are downloading I stuck a distro disc into this. Turned out it was Ubuntu.
Basically, I have no GUI, and I can't be bothered to fix it as I'll be in FC3 in a while anyway. So here I am, on the TFP, surfing in lynx. The Titty Board posts have never loaded so fast! Seriously though, lynx is a bloody good browser. I'm going to recommend to the Firefox team that on their next release they have an easy access button that disables images, and replaces them with alt text or something. So, until later, farewell, I'm off to fiddle with linux CLI things . |

I havent used it, so i dont know if it replaces images with alt text, but it will hide images. I always look at sites i build with lynx to see if it can be navigated with lynx. someone told me about links (after i made a smart ass comment about them spelling lynx wrong). I found out its actually eLinks but it comes installed on FC2 and is also a CLI browser.

Want a serious geek moment?
I had been playing lots of Half-Life 2 and was thoroughly enjoying ripping radiators off walls and smashing people around with them. I was walking through the econ building at school and saw a radiator and the *first* thing that popped into my head was "aw hell, Im gonna fuck someone up with that", immediately followed by "good lord, I have to stop playing that game so much".

try "links", its much better for tables and what not in text-based browsing.
Ubuntu is based off of Debian, only it has a lot quicker release schedule. Try it out, you will like it. IMO anything Debian based is much better than shitty redhat.

Not Geeky!
Hey, not geeky at all man. It's so refresshing to see some Linux talk on this board.
On a side note, I have ordered the Ubuntu Linux disc, and have donwloaded/burned the ISO image, just waiting for my firewall/broadband router so I can set up another computer on my network in my basemet to give ita try. A real fast temporary install a couple weks ago yeileded a GUI, what was you issue? Any mini reviews on Ubuntu. I'm hoping for great things from this distro. Now, I think that was a bit geeky, but I feel so ALIVE! Pierre |

Redhat/FC has it's advantages.. like great for people who just want to get into linux.. anyways...
My geeky moment (that I can think of) was when I was playing MarioKart quite a bit.. then I went out for a drive... got stuck in traffic.. and seriously thought "if I had a shell I could shoot at them..." |
