mIRC file server
All right, i'm not sure if this is allowed or not so i'm just going to post an introduction, i hope someone gives me either a thumbs up or a thumbs down:)
my friend started his own irc network, he's going to be running a file server on it. i can't say whether or not the files will be 'legitimate' but he asked me to spread the word... if it's deemed okay i'll post the server, if not, sorry :D |
his own irc server just to host some xdcc bots? bah
just set up a password protected ftpd and give to all your friends... much easier and less hassle.... back on topic what is he running this irc server on? what type of pipes? what OS? |
If its for files only, just go with a ftp server. If yall want to chat, and 'occasionally' share some files then irc is the way to go. I would say ftp is a much easier method of sharing since bots can be unreliable depending on how they are setup.

well i don't know, it's his server, it's not JUST for files, but that's what he's saying the main idea is.. he has 2 more channels set up right now. for chat and support.
the question was, am i allowed to post the server address here? |
I'm going to have to give it a http://alamak.com.sg/i/thumbsdown.gif
1. it's too close to 'spam' 2. it's too close to w*rez regardless, I wish him luck. I would think the best way to get traffic is to try and get on the irc search engines. No idea how that works though. That he will have to research. |
