Upgrading a Dell Dimension 8200 Series
I need to boost my memory in my Dell Dimension 8200. I go to dell's website and I see that memory costs over 300 just for one 528 module. Is there a less expensive way I can purchase a substitute memory module. I just don't know what Dell has to make their mother boards use Rambus.
Any Ideas? Thanks |
Ebay. I see that dell only ram on there all the time.

I also have a question about a Dell 8200 Series. I want to upgrade the hard drive, but I wasn't able to install XP in the new hard drive. I don't have too much computer knowledge, so I would appreciate it if somebody could help me out. Thanks in advance.

What harddrive? Just a regular blank PATA or SATA drive?

I'm sorry, this might be a stupid question but what is a PATA drive, and SATA drive?

I got a pretty nice deal on 2 512 sticks at CompUSA. I don't remember the exact cost, but I know I didn't spend over $150 total. Cost also has a lot to do with the type of RAM. Certain motherboards only take certain types of RAM. I know some types cost a lot more than others (I have no idea how the 'speed' of the types compare to eachother).
My Dimension 4400 uses type PC2100 RAM - you can find this in your user manual that came with the computer, or just read what it says on the RAM thats in there already. |
Memory on this page should be good for the 8200 - http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...roperty&DEPA=1
There's no 512mb sticks there, but the memory has to be installed in pairs anyways. |
