Using my iBook as an iPod...
I'm looking for a way to listen to music from my iBook on the bus, without having it open and on my lap. If I can have it in my bag closed, I can let my playlist play and wear headphones. When the monitor goes to sleep, music continues to play, but as soon as I shut the laptop, it goes into sleep mode and stops playing the music. Is there a piece of software that can help me out? I don't really want to stick something in there to keep it just open enough either. I know there's quite a few mac users around here. Anyone deal with this themselves?
thanks guys |
I don't have a laptop, but I seem to recall hearing that if you were to keep it running with the lid closed, you would overheat the laptop. Especially in a closed bag.

Yeah, laptops get rid of heat through the keyboard, you'd bugger up an iBook if you run it with the lid closed for any period of time. If you're serious though, search google, it's been hacked.

I had no idea that it would overheat with the lid closed. I close mine and keep the radio on all night. Thanks for the tip.

don't know about mac settings, but in winders, you can tell it to "do nothing" when the laptop is closed.

Yeah, I havn't seen anything on iBooks or PowerBooks...I've searched all over. However, this was a year ago, when I still had my iBook. I wouldn't do it though, it'd overheat. However, iBooks look so good, just bust it out and let everyone check out your gear!
